Fig Tree Cottage

Un grand merci à Stuart et Sam;

This was our second stay at La Petite Ferme Gites and it won’t be the last! We stayed in the barn this time with our teenagers, which was comfortable, well equipped and a cool retreat from the summer heat. We spent most of our time in the wonderful pool and playing many of the games which are provided. Lovely bar, chateau and new craft shop in the village. Sam and Stuart are excellent hosts and couldn’t have been more welcoming or informative about the local area. A fantastic holiday enjoyed by the whole family.

Jennie McKeith,

Our family with one 4 year old and 2 toddlers had a wonderful stay at
Sam and Stuart. A part from being an extremely beautiful place with a lot of charm the owners had thought of the small details like excellent kitchen utensils and robust furniture. The swimming pool was lovely and the owners really made us feel like a part of their family. Highly recommend this place!

Emily Mankert,

Lovely, comfortable and well equipped gite, stunning pool & games barn. Perfect for a relaxing holiday with lots to do & see locally. Dampierre is a beautiful village. Sam & Stuart were great hosts. We will be back!

Georgina Panayi,

Stayed in the Farmhouse and the accommodation was well equipt with everything you need for a few days, a week or 2. Will be going back during warmer months to make good use of the pool area. The surrounding area is beautiful. I hired a car from La Rochelle airport and the drive took an hour. And dropped it off at Poitier - only as flight times were better for us.

Agathe Molines,

Had a fabulous holiday, great, well equipped and comfortable accomodation, swimming pool with fantastic sun bathing and seating area and a fabulous games barn for all the family, including, pool table, table tennis table and a variety of other games and activities. Owners very friendly, accomodating and helpful.

Fiona,

Charming gite in a really lovely village. Sam and Stuart are such kind and hospitable hosts - they sorted out some walking maps for us to use whilst there, and even allowed us to borrow some pans when we had family coming over for a meal. They had also left some wine and beers in the fridge to welcome us! The gite is a lovely, cosy space with all the amenities you need, very easy to find (thanks to their directions) and not far from a large supermarket in Aulney. The village itself is beautiful with a Renaissance Chateaux, which had a music festival on whilst we were there. A wonderful, relaxing place to stay, we will definitely be back again!

Ruth,

We have enjoyed two amazing weeks at Le Petite Ferme Gites truly a home from home. We were welcomed on day one by our brilliant hosts Sam & Stuart. They are both extremely friendly and approachable and have time for you. Our son Alfie fell in love with cat called Kit Kat. Sam was very patient with him and let him feed her.
We loved the ‘The Farmhouse’ gite we stayed in bags of space for a family. The kitchen was well appointed when we wanted to cook but we also enjoyed meals out in the local towns (some great recommendations from Sam & Stuart). The open plan living space was perfect with a young family. Three great sized bedrooms that were clean and comfortable. We were able to use our kindle fire stick in the tv to catch up on box sets which was an added bonus. Outdoor space was lovely to enjoy breakfast and evening meals. The pool was another reason why I booked the gite. It wasn’t a disappointment. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The pool was gated and had a safely alarm which was great with our young son.
We chose this area because we wanted to explore and also to be able to relax. It’s great for both. Great location to explore the Charente-Maritime. Either enjoying days relaxing by the pool, playing in the games room. Or loads of days trips to the beach & beautiful towns like Cognac & La Rochelle.
It’s situated in the beautiful village of Dampierre-sur-Boutonne we enjoyed an afternoon at the Chateau. It’s has a useful little shop and quaint pub. Supermarkets are no more than a ten min drive away. With markets and restaurants in nearby towns another must see. We would definitely recommend this to family and friends and look to come here again soon.

Emma Semper Hopkins,

Highly recommended for the warmth and generosity of the hosts of La Petite Ferme, Sam and Stuart. We arrived late and were welcomed with the invitation to share a bottle of wine with them. This set the tone for the week, with their relaxed and thoughtful hospitality, whether it was supplying a bicycle and paint pots, or information about activities in the local area. Throughout the week we were made to feel so at home. The Barn itself is spacious, very well appointed, and was spotlessly clean. The setting is peaceful and authentic, and the pool is lovely.
